Davide Anguita

Chairman

Davide Anguita graduated in Electronic Engineering in 1989 and received its Ph.D. in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering in 1992 from the University of Genoa, Italy. He was Postdoc Research Assistant at the Int. Computer Science Institute, Berkeley, USA, and in 1996 he became Assistant Professor. In 2002 he became Associate Professor of Electronics at the University of Trento and now he is with the Department of Biophysical and Electronic Engineering, University of Genoa, where he is currently teaching Digital Electronic Systems, Programmable Logic Devices and Intelligent Electronic Systems.
His main research interests are focused on Computational Intelligence and Intelligent Systems and their hardware and software implementations. He has been member of the European Networks of Excellence NeuroNet I and II, Chair of the Smart Adaptive Systems section of the European Network of Excellence EUNITE (2001 – 2004: European Network on Intelligent Technologies for Smart Adaptive Systems) and is currently Chair of the focus group on Data Technologies of the European Concerted Action NISIS (2005 – 2008: Nature Inspired Smart Information Systems).
He is the scientific coordinator of numerous academic-industrial liaisons and cooperations on intelligent systems (Elsag Bailey, National Institute for Cancer Research, Whirlpool Europe, Electrolux-Zanussi, etc.) and co-author of more than 60 publications on international journals, conferences, and books. He is co-author of two patents on intelligent systems and scientific coordinator of the Ferrari-University of Genoa agreement for the study and application of intelligent systems to F1.
He is a member of IEEE (Computational Intelligence Society) since 1993, guest editor for Applied Soft Computing (Special Issue on Hardware Implementation of Soft Computing Techniques) and Applied Artificial Intelligence (Special Issue on Adaptive Intelligent Systems) and member of the technical board of numerous international conferences (Eunite, RASC, NiSIS, IEEE ICIP, IEEE ICNC).
